Carrots Love Tomatoes is the title of a wonderful gardening reference book. Did you know that cucumbers don't like potatoes, or that tomatoes like asparagus, carrots, celery, chives, garlic, onion and parsley? Not only does this book reference companion plantings, it covers edible wild plants, and poisonous plants or parts of plants. It discusses vegetables, herbs, fruits, nuts, grains, pest control, different gardening techniques and soil improvement. If I had one book about gardening it would be this one. Carrots Love Tomatoes by Louise Riotte, published by Storey Publishing. Now is a good time to plan your garden. Sketch it on paper and decide where everything will be planted, but keep the broccoli and cauliflower away from the tomatoes until they are in your salad!
